Are data centres going to be obsolete? Er, not so fast …
Chamath Palihapitiya, founder and CEO of Social Capital, recently made some controversial and eyebrow-raising comments about the future of data centres. The comments can be seen in this clip here from about the 10:50 to 13:00 mark. The markets reacted to the comments and we saw some selling off of data centre stocks. But is Palihapitiya on the mark? Or does he fundamentally misunderstand the data centre industry and its viability? Spoiler alert: it is the latter.
