Long weekends in the US and Canada slowed things down across the sector, but there were some notable strategic activity in the data centre space.

Carrier hotels continue to garner strategic interest and H5 Data Centers partnered up to operate the 325 Hudson property in New York. Meanwhile, Macquarie Capital made an investment in the US data centre market, with the purchase of an equity stake in California-based Prime Data Centers.

The latter part of the earning season brought results from MSP and managed hosting providers. Pivotree in Canada and SysGroup in the UK disclosed earnings that reflected the difficult terrain brought on by the global pandemic.

Elsewhere on the MSP and hosting side, Navisite and Rackspace both augmented their managed and professional services practices as the support delivery model continues to undergo change amid increased complexity from end users.

It was quieter on the hyperscale side, but a new platform was assembled to target the Nordics, while Oracle added its eighth interoperability node and this time it was in Brazil. Elsewhere in connectivity, Dartpoints continues to try and build connectivity ecosystems in second tier markets, while TELEHOUSE boosted interconnectivity options.
