JV, AI, capital raise, new company formation, M&A, executive hires
As the year winds down, the sector continues to see significant activity as hyperscale and AI push growth and expansion to the next level.
The capital requirements of the sector continue to shift and Digital Realty formed a JV with Blackstone to develop hypercale data centres in multiple global markets. Meanwhile, infrastructure to support AI is building out steadily and CoreWeave looks to have raised more capital to support the growth that is in its pipeline and coming sooner than later.
Marketing
In Europe, there were a number of developments coming out of the market in Frankfurt. We came across a new platform called DATA CASTLE, while Equinix opened a new data centre and CyrusOne broke ground on a fifth facility. Other platforms in pursuit of the market in Europe include Apto, which added a new member to its senior management team.
The M&A arena continues to be slow, but there were a few more transactions of note. In the UK, iomart Group acquired a vertically-oriented provider, while in the US, Tonaquint acquired EdgeX Data Centers in Oklahoma City. We also have a few details about the recent Cologix acquisition of certain Cyxtera assets.
There continues to be shuffling in executive circles. KevlinX brought in a new CEO as it looks to get the young operation off the ground, while in APAC, Vantage Data Centers brought in a number of industry veterans to expand its management team.
